The Trustees of  Tūtaki Youth Inc. are pleased to inform you that Constable Simon Howard, who had been Interim Manager at Tutaki,  has secured a well-deserved promotion within New Zealand Police and start his new role as Supporting Resolutions Co-ordinator on 23 September 2019.

Since February 2019 Simon has been Interim Manager here at Tūtaki.   He was tasked by the board to:

  • Support the Team
  • Continue and grow the service to the community
  • Provide the board with organisational options for the sustainable future of Tūtaki.

During this time he has secured an ongoing commitment from New Zealand Police to provide Tūtaki with a Police Project Leader to manage the project.  The Board and staff team are delighted with this significant investment from our key stakeholder and thank Simon and the team at NZ Police for having the foresight to make this happen.

Simon will not leave Tūtaki totally as he will remain on the Board. He has been involved with Tūtaki since the very beginning.  He played a key role in the inception group that became Tūtaki through his role as Police Project Leader he helped create the amazing facility and team we have today.  He has played many roles including Lions Den Boxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instructor, a Family Violence Co-ordinator, Board of Trustees member, Board Chair and now as Interim Manager.

Through this time his passion and purpose has always been to help every young person in Central Taranaki reach their potential.  He recognises we cannot do this alone and has been key in developing further, and maintaining, our key partner and stakeholder relationships.

We know Simon has established great foundations for the next Tūtaki Manager, along with our amazing team, to continue to build upon.

If you would like to come along to wish Simon well in his new role we will be having afternoon tea just before our AGM on Wednesday 23 October, 3 pm at Tūtaki Youth Inc., 88 Juliet Street, Stratford.

Simon can still be contacted in his capacity as Board Chair on Simon.Howard@police.govt.nz or alternatively please contact Kim Marsh at Tūtaki Youth Inc. on kim@tutaki.org.nz
